Award-winninng Carol Hunt Jewellery offers a unique range of contemporary jewellery taking inspiration from memories, experiences and the contrasts of life.
I have always loved stories whether told in literature, film, music, history or my own experiences, and jewellery has become the means for me to tell my own. All my pieces have a story, directly linked to the inspiration used in my design and making process. My stories are told in a subtle rather than explicit manner through the jewellery objects that I create so that the wearer may decide their own meaning.
I produce unique hand crafted pieces using the finest materials and with details that I hope will surprise and delight the wearer. Shape, form, colour and materials all reference the tales I am inspired by, yet all pieces have a strong contemporary, often scukptural aesthetic.
Contemporary Jewellery inspired by stories, journey and memory...
I completed my MA by Project at the renowned Cass school of Art and Design (part of London Met University) in September 2015. My project explored how we interpret and find meaning in jewellery objects and explored how experiences and memories influence the pieces I create.I was delighted to receive a Distinction. Since then I have been exhibiting at numerous craft and trade shows and in 2017 I was delighted to be awarded a Goldsmiths Craft and Design Council award.
Prior to this, I studied for my City & Guilds certificate in jewellery at Citylit, receiving a Distinction. My "Buried Treasure" neckpiece (shown on my Portfolio page under Special Projects,) was shortlisted for the Benchpeg awards during London Jewellery Week 2013 and the "Tyrant?" ring has been shortlisted for the Benchpeg awards for 2014.
I am always building on my technical skills and experimenting with new materials and have completed numerous short courses at Central St Martins, Morley College and Citylit, and continue to study at St Albans School of Jewellery with Martin Hopton and at JASSO with Jeff Wallis.
I also have a successful career in management consulting behind me, and a first class honours degree in Management from the University of Nottingham.
